I would rather refer you to yesterday's post on New Orleans zoning in the Treme neighborhood than write anything new today. It still bothers me to no end and I hope this is not the shape of things to come under the Landrieu administration. I like Mayor Landrieu and I hope he doesn't give in to the professional planners as much as he seems to be courting them.

It takes a while to learn the neighborhoods here. Treme is a very old and important neighborhood and it profoundly belongs to the people who live there.
I don't think anybody need worry about Mitch Landrieu's respect for New Orleans neighborhoods and I don't think he will be hoodwinked by planners or anybody else.
I really doubt any part of New Orleans is in the least danger of turning into an uptight New England village. People who roll that way eventually move to Metairie or Mandeville.
Take a deep breath, go have lunch at Lil Dizzy's and keep watching what happens.
Good advice. Thanks, Anita. I'll listen and watch and wait to learn more.
