An appreciation of sardines

Sardinistas of the world, unite!  Is there a local chapter of sardine affectionados in New Orleans or only fresh seafood?  I see tinned sardines in every corner grocer.

Honestly, I've never tried a sardine. Heard they were really salty.

Sardines! When I was a youngster, my great uncle used to eat them on a saltine, and he got me to try one. Hooked ever since! I love those little oily fish!

People always tell me they like them with saltines. I've only eaten them out of the can or in salad.
